Doug Stanhope, known for his brutally honest commentary and sharp-tongued humor, will be touring throughout the United States this summer beginning August 7, 2012 in Chattanooga, TN. In an attempt to recapture some of the magic of the open road, Stanhope will set out with two comedian chums in a van for an intense period of gigging. Joining him for the Southeast leg are buddies Carlos Valencia and Junior Stopka, Brett Erickson and Geoff Tate will join Stanhope for the Midwest dates. More dates will be announced soon.
Stanhope digitally released Before Turning The Gun On Himself on March 6, 2012 and it immediately shot to #1 on the Billboard, iTunes and Amazon comedy charts. Recorded in Salt Lake City, UT at The Complex, the live companion CD/DVD will be out November 6, 2012.
Stanhope had a break out year in 2011 and has garnered praise from everyone from Ricky Gervais who says that Doug “might be the most important stand up working today” to Sarah Silverman to Louis C.K. Stanhope was featured in Louis C.K.’s FX show Louie in season 2, episode 9 entitled “Eddie” where he earned rave reviews for a character Louie wrote with Doug in mind. Stanhope has been featured on The Howard Stern Show, Comedy Central Presents, Showtime’s “The Green Room With Paul Provenza,” The Man Show, Fox’s “Stossel” as well as several appearances on various BBC shows. Stanhope was also featured in controversial film The Aristocratsalongside George Carlin, Don Rickles and Chris Rock to name a few.
Stanhope will be on his “Big Stink” comedy tour throughout the United States beginning August 7, 2012 in Chattanooga, TN. Before Turning The Gun On Himself is the follow up to the widely heralded #1 release Oslo: Burning The Bridge To Nowhere.
